Meet Laura Downie, owner and principal designer
Hello! I’m Laura. I’m the owner and principal designer at interior design & decorating company, Studio 1 Interiors.
My love affair with interior design started the moment I was old enough to redecorate my bedroom as a kid. In fact, I’ve lost count how many times I revamped that space. Today, my work is about creating real spaces for real people, spaces that tell a story of who you are and what you love.
I’m a Sydney Design School graduate and constantly draw inspiration from the world around me; whether it’s nature, travel or client projects.
But enough about me… let’s talk about how I can help you.

Firstly, I love forming connections with my clients (hopefully you) because a strong relationship plays an integral part in the creative process.
How? I’m glad you asked.
A well-designed and thoughtfully styled space immediately sparks emotion. And, as an interior designer, my job is to capture your energy and personality and help you inject that into your space. Crafting a space that is beautiful, functional, and uniquely you.
Working with me isn’t about what I like. It’s about you and making your ideas come to life and don’t worry if you don’t know what those ideas are yet. Part of my job is helping you to draw them out – they’re in there, I promise.
Everyone has an individual style, whether you know it or not. Your home, office or wherever you spend most of your time, should be a reflection of you and what you love.
My down-to-earth nature and passion for what I do are something my clients always comment on because as we immerse ourselves in creativity, we have a lot of fun.

I’ve worked across residential client projects, with start-ups and established brands. I’ve transformed homes, co-working spaces, boardrooms, studios and styled for advertorial and production shoots all over Sydney and beyond.
I’ve won multiple ‘The Best of Houzz Award’s for Service and Design and I’ve styled for shoots for Taubmans, Three Birds Renovations, Maison Blanche Candles and have created spaces for brands including YouTube, Google, W1LL Studios, Kent&Lime Fashion Brand and Delphine Sorel Eyebrows.
